CHENEY, Wash. - In a seesawing contest that concluded the regular season for both sides, Idaho outmuscled Eastern Washington 85-81 behind six double-figure scorers in front of a lively Senior Night crowd at Reese Court.Ā

HOW IT HAPPENED
The hosts scored eight straight to open play, powered by over 1,700 Eagle faithful, before Jackson Rasmussen knocked down a transition triple to stop the bleeding and start a 16-6 Vandal response over the next seven minutes to give Idaho its first lead of the game at the 12:25 mark. Aidan Sevilla came off the bench to contribute 10 points during the span, including a stop-and-pop three, to push UI ahead.Ā

Scoring came to a halt in the middle portion of the period, with the two sides only combining for 12 points over the middle six minutes. The Black and Gold was held scoreless for nearly four, but a Seth Joba slam woke the boys from Moscow up, allowing them outscore Eastern 12-8 to close the half and take a four-point edge into the locker room.Ā

Idaho carried this momentum into the second half, opening the period on a 9-2 scoring stretch to build an 11-point lead by the 18:29 mark, its largest of the night. Both offenses went ice cold over the next 3:37, with only six points being scored, all by the Eagles from the charity stripe. This cold snap did not limit Idaho's physicality, though, as the Vandals' toughness was on display when Trevon Blassingame landed a quick-fire, third-chance tre to put Idaho up seven.Ā

Eastern climbed back into the game, posting a 17-7 flurry to retake the lead for the first time since 10:55 in the first. Biko Johnson and Miles Klapper would combine to score eight for the Vandals in response, to give UI a three-point gap with less than two to play. Idaho would hold onto this lead thanks to a combination of strong shooting from the free throw line and timely triples, to win 85-81 and secure a 9-9 conference record.Ā
