Idaho Repeatedly Finds the Podium at the Jeff Rahn Classic

SPOKANE, Wash. – Following a packed weekend of meets around the West, Idaho Track and Field reunited once again for the Jeff Rahn Classic in Spokane.

The men's side started the day off strong with distance runner Tyler Graff placing second in the 3000m. His performance was followed by a gold finish in the 4x100m relay. The stacked team included freshmen JaRae Long and Mateo Ganje, sophomore Keenan Kuntz, and senior Cash Jones. Kuntz also found his way to the top in the 100m sprint. Another highlight for the men was their silver and bronze finishes in the 400m sprint and 400m hurdles. Sophomore Myron Rethymniotakis (54.19) and freshman Logan Peterson (55.29) each got new personal bests in the hurdles along with their placements.

The men showed out on the throws side as well with first and second place finished in three different events. Junior Gioele Tengattini sat at the top of the podium twice, followed by Evan Hartt in shot put and Caden Hottman in the discus throw. Hottman also earned gold in the hammer throw with Mason Andulajevic in second.

The Vandal women got very comfortable on the podium this meet. They started with a first-place finish in the 4x100m relay, ran by sophomore Alyssa Marsh, juniors Rhyan Madden and Jana Willems, and graduate student Ashley Hollenbeck Willems. Another gold was earned by Makenna Ritter in the 400m, followed by a podium sweep in the 100m sprint. Willems, with a new best time of 11.67, Hollenbeck Willems, and Marsh were all responsible for that feat. Another podium was swept in the 200m, earning Hollenbeck Willems, Madden, and Marsh one more strong finish. Another high point for the women included Lydia Nance's first-place run in the 800m.

The women's throws team had a sweep as well in shot put. Sophomore Tesse Kamps threw 14.04 meters for first place, followed by Beatriz Marciano and Kathryn Burnette. Marciano also placed first in the hammer throw with a distance of 52.51m and Lindi Kessinger earned the top spot in discus. Finishing out the day for the women's field competitors, javelin throwers Makenzie Carpenter and Adisyn Andrews placed first and second for the Vandals.

UP NEXT
Idaho will make their way to California for the three-day event that is the Bryan Clay Invite. The meet will be held from April 15 -18.
