Vandals Set Off to Part Ways Around California

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Track and Field gets ready to split up around California for four separate meets this weekend. A majority of athletes will travel to Long Beach for the Pacific Coast Invitational on April 16, followed by the Beach Invitational on April 17-18. Fewer athletes will make their way to Azusa for the Bryan Clay Invite on April 16-18, while the last of the Vandals will compete in La Verne for the Leopard Invitational on the 16-17.

Those attending the Long Beach festivities have a full weekend ahead of them. Notable competitors include the women's 4x100m relay team. After multiple gold finishes this outdoor season, Rhyan Madden, Jana Willems, Ashley Hollenbeck Willems, and Alyssa Marsh are set to race on both Thursday and Saturday. The Willems duo and Marsh will also compete in the 100m and 200m sprints throughout the weekend, while Madden will find her way through multiple 400m events. On the men's side, sophomore Keenan Kuntz will represent the Vandals in the 100m and 200m sprints as well. He will be joined by multiple other Vandals, including Cash Jones and JaRae long.

On the field side of Long Beach, graduate student Sydnie Zywina will be seen in the women's long and triple jump on Thursday and Saturday, as well as sophomore Cami Cvitkovich in the high jump. Other athletes to watch are throwers Beatriz Marciano, Kathryn Burnette, and Ivy Smith in the women's shot put and hammer throw. The Vandal men will have many throwers and jumpers competing as well. Jones will represent Idaho in the long jump following his sprint, and Gioele Tengattini and Evan Hartt will pair up in shot put and discus.

Aside from the LBC meets, the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California will showcase the women steeplechase runners. Abigail Thomas is expected to compete in the open competition, while Constanze Paoli will race in the steeplechase invite. Finally, to round out the list of runners this weekend, Lydia Nance will run in the 800m at the Third Annual Leopard Invitational in La Verne.
