MOSCOW, Idaho – After a record-breaking weekend, the Vandals get ready for a trip across the Palouse for the 2026 Cougar Classic in Pullman, Washington this Friday April 24. The Field events are set to begin at 10:00 A.M. PST and track will start at noon.
For the Idaho sprinters,
Jana Willems is ready for a strong 100m race after securing the best time in Idaho school history last weekend. She will be joined by senior Ashley Hollenbeck Willems and sophomore
Alyssa Marsh. The three will also run in the 200m along with four other athletes. The men have several runners in the short sprint events as well, including senior
Cash Jones and sophomore
Myron Rethymniotakis. Idaho will also be competing in multiple distance events.
The women's relay team has been looking really strong this outdoor season and will continue their campaign this weekend. The team is made up of the sprinting trio, Willems, Hollenbeck Willems, and Marsh, joined by junior
Rhyan Madden. On top of that, both the men and women will be competing in the 4x400m relays. A majority of the men were on last weekend's team when the Vandals ran a new best time of 3:16.49.
Moving onto throws, freshman
Kathryn Burnette and Senior
Beatriz Marciano will be competing in women's shot put and hammer after building a significant reputation in both.
Tesse Kamps and
Ivy Smith will be joining them. The lady Vandals will also compete in javelin and discus. Junior
Gioele Tengattini is a standout thrower for the men and will be seen in shot put, discus, and hammer alongside other throwers.
Wrapping up with jumps,
Sydnie Zywina is one to watch as she continues her winning season in women's long jump. Additionally, Amanda Munoz will be representing the Vandals in triple jump.
UP NEXT
Idaho Track and Field will travel West to Corvallis, Oregon for the Oregon State Invite on May 1-2. The Vandals are also set to compete in Tuscon, Arizona for the Desert Heat Classic on May 2.
