Vandals Secure Shifty DI Transfer Forward Hudson Ward

MOSCOW, Idaho - After a busy weekend, Alex Pribble and the reigning Big Sky champion Idaho Vandals secured the commitment of their fifth offseason addition, Leduc, Alberta native Hudson Ward.

"We often look for versatility in the recruiting process, and Hudson has a rare combination of size, skill, and athleticism," Pribble said, glowing about Idaho's new addition. "He can guard multiple positions, create a ton of different advantages on the court, and he loves the game. He had a dominant prep career in Canada, and has collegiate experience at the highest level. We believe strongly that his best basketball is ahead of him, and we can't wait to get him out to Moscow and get to work!"

Ward, a 6'7" forward, started six games for Western Michigan during the 2025-26 season and appeared in 13 contests for the Broncos, scoring 4.5 points on 46.3% shooting and pulling down 3.4 rebounds a night. He scored a season-high 13 against Buffalo in December, going 5-7 from the field and showing range by splashing three triples. Prior to his lone season in Kalamazoo, Ward spent his freshman campaign at Penn State, making eight appearances for the Nittany Lions, with two coming in key conference matchups against Ohio State and UCLA.

The forward was a prep standout as a three-star prospect at Leduc Composite High School and Western Canada Prep Academy, where he averaged 26.2 points and nearly 10 rebounds to help the Edmonton-based school to a 56-24 record over two seasons. His resume includes three 50-point triple-doubles and being named to the 2024 All-Canadian Games roster, posting 15 points against the top prep players in the nation. Ward was also a member of the 2022 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup squad for Canada, appearing in all seven games for his nation and scoring in double-figures in Canada's knockout round game against the hosts, Spain.

Ward is the Vandals' second Canadian addition of the offseason, joining TJ Wal, and the third announced portal get for Pribble and his staff, alongside 2024 Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year Kase Wynott and first-team All-GNAC honoree Diego Trejo-Delgado.
