MOSCOW, Idaho –The Vandals part ways this weekend and head to both Arizona and Oregon. Majority will travel south for the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Arizona on May 2. Others will make their way to Corvallis, Oregon for the OSU High Performance meet on May 1-2.
Arizona will see a majority of Idaho sprints and jumps this week.
Jana Willems,
Alyssa Marsh, Ashley Hollenbeck Willems, and
Rhyan Madden are ready to race on the women's side. The four will take on the 4x100m relay along with other events. Madden will have a packed day, also competing in the 400m, 400m hurdles, and 4x400m relay. Marsh and Hollenbeck Willems will have busy meets as well, racing in the 100m and 200m sprints.
Representing jumps in Tucson,
Cami Cvitkovich and Francesca Cuccu will compete in high jump, while
Sydnie Zywina and Amanda Munoz will be seen in the triple jump. Additionally, sophomore
Hanna Tait is one to watch in women's long jump after earning Big Sky Athlete of the Week a few weeks prior. She will also race the 100m hurdles.
The men will be less present in Arizona, but still worth noting.
Keenan Kuntz will face the 100m and 200m sprints, and senior Shawn Twumasi-Ampofo is ready to take on the men's triple jump. Joining them will be sprinter and long jumper
Cash Jones.
The men's throws team will be very apparent in Oregon this weekend.
Gioele Tengattini is expected to finish on the podium in both shot put and discus. The junior holds the current team's top distances for both events. Additionally, senior
Blake Sturgis will be competing in javelin after setting a new personal best just two weekends ago. To top off this week's field team, senior Kaden Hottman, joined by sophomores
Mason Andulajevic and
Bradley Hottman will vie in the hammer throw.
Also in Corvallis, the men will have runners in the 800m, 1500m, 5000m, and junior
Tyler Graff will race the 3000m steeplechase.
The women are expected to have athletes in three different events. Junior
Constanze Paoli and sophomore
Sara Casebolt will take on the 1500m distance race. Junior
Lydia Nance will run the 800m, and freshman Adisyn Andrew is set to finish strong in javelin. Andrews threw her furthest distance yet last weekend at the Beach Invitational (44.91m).
UP NEXT
The Vandals will return to Spokane once more for the Whitworth Last Chance Meet on May 6. This will be the last event for Idaho before the Big Sky Outdoor Championship in Oregon.
