MOSCOW, Idaho - Ready to pick up a win in Big Sky play, Idaho Volleyball hits the road this week for an always-demanding conference stretch, visiting Montana State and Montana in Bozeman and Missoula.
The Vandals (9-5, 0-2 Big Sky) will look to rebound away from Memorial Gym, where they dropped both matches of their home-opening homestand to Idaho State and Weber State. Conveniently, Idaho has been at its best away from home this season, getting all nine wins to date at neutral sites, though this week brings the program's first true road matches of the year. Not to be forgotten in Saturday's action vs. Weber State, Kiana Greer recorded the 500th kill of her career, doing so in just 42 career matches, the fastest since Allison Walker hit that mark in 35.
Idaho opens the trip Thursday, Oct. 1 at Montana State in Bozeman before heading to Missoula to face Montana on Saturday, Oct. 3. Each match is set for 6:00 PM PT and will stream on ESPN+.
ABOUT MONTANA STATE
Matt Houk's Bobcats (8-5, 1-1 Big Sky) opened conference play with a statement, knocking off rival Montana in four in the Cat-Griz opener before dropping a sweep at Northern Colorado. Montana State built a solid non-conference resume, going 3-0 at the Maroon and White Classic in Pennsylvania and adding wins over North Dakota State and Georgia State. The Cats will have the comfort of Shroyer Gymnasium for Thursday's "Country Night."
ABOUT MONTANA
Saturday brings a Montana squad off to a difficult start at 4-9 overall and 0-2 in league play, riding a three-match slide. Allison Lawrence's Grizzlies have struggled away from Missoula so far and opened Big Sky play with losses to Montana State and at Northern Colorado. Idaho will look to take advantage inside a Dahlberg Arena that historically draws a strong crowd alongside one of the longest-tenured coaches in the conference. Lawrence has led the charge at UM since 2017, won the league's Coach of the Year in 2022, and has kept the Griz a regular contender year in and year out.
UP NEXT
The road stretch rolls on the following weekend, with Idaho visiting Eastern Washington on Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Northern Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 10.
