High school: Played running back and linebacker ... as a sophomore averaged 8.86 yards on seven carries in addition to averaging 15 receiving yards per game ... as a junior, missed part of the season because of injury yet still received honorable mention all-South Puget Sound League recognition ... as a senior, a "red chip player" (one of the top 10 in the state of Washington) by the Seattle Times ... described as a tough back with speed, size and athleticism ... missed 2½ games with ankle injury and wound up second team all-SPSL 4A North ... In a game against Thomas Jefferson High School, he tallied 289 yards on 23 carries and scored four TDs ... team captain.
