Bobby Daly

Bobby Daly is in his sixth season with the Vandals and his second coaching linebackers. Daly joined Petrino's staff as a graduate assistant in 2013 and took over as the Vandals' Director of Football Operations in 2016. He coached the defensive line in Idaho's 2016 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl victory before moving to coach linebackers in the spring of 2017.

In his first full season as a position coach, all four of Idaho's starting linebackers earned all-conference distinction. First-team selection Tony Lashley recorded the most tackles by a Vandal since 2007 (123) and ranked No. 5 in the country in solo tackles per game (6.5). Kaden Elliss earned second-team honors, while Ed Hall and Leonard Hazewood both picked up honorable mention accolades.

The Vandals' 2017 linebacker crew was one of the most complete units in the conference, combining for 401 tackles, 49 tackles for loss and 14 sacks.

Daly joined the coaching staff at Idaho immediately after a decorated collegiate and professional career.

Before becoming an All-American middle linebacker at Montana State, Daly grew up on the sidelines of Capital High School's football team in Helena, Mont. The son of the offensive line coach at CHS, he was involved in football, basketball, wrestling and track while in high school. He was a two-time first-team all-state defensive end while setting the school sack record as part of the 13-0 2002 State Championship team.

Daly walked on at MSU. After redshirting the 2004 season and making the transition from defensive end to linebacker, he started six games as a freshman and was a member of the Bobcats' 2005 Big Sky Championship team. He led the conference in tackles the next two seasons and was the consensus 2007 FCS first-team All-American middle linebacker. Daly was a team captain and a three-time All-Big Sky performer.

After graduating with a degree in business finance, he played three seasons of professional arena football and was a member of the 2010 IFL Champion Billings Outlaws. He also has earned his maste's degree from Idaho.
