Jake Scharnhorst returned to Idaho in July 2009. A graduate assistant in 2003-04 and an assistant strength coach for the Vandals in 2004-05, Scharnhorst returns to the Idaho strength and conditioning staff as head strength and conditioning coach after spending three years as an assistant strength coach at Mississippi and another as head strength and conditioning coach at Utah State.

Scharnhorst earned his bachelor's degree from Northern Colorado in 2002 and his master's from Idaho in 2005.
