Raleigh Grossbaum was named the sixth head men's tennis coach in Idaho program history on August 29, 2023.
The 2024 season under the direction of Grossbaum saw Idaho finish 5-14 overall and 3-5 in the Big Sky, falling short of the conference tournament. Three student-athletes received all-conference and individual accolades. Sebastian Medica became just the second Vandal to earn Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors after finishing with a 7-9 overall singles mark and a 4-3 conference record. For the third straight year, Francisco Gay brought home All-Big honors when he was named all-conference second team in singles. Doubles duo Alex Asenov and Medica received All-Big Sky Honorable Mention recognition.
Most recently, Grossbaum spent the past two seasons as an assistant men's tennis coach at Dartmouth College, a Division l university a part of the Ivy League in Hanover, NH. He contributed to all aspects of the program and was the primary recruiter, where he helped sign the No. 22 ranked recruiting class in the nation in 2022. The top 25 class was the fourth best in Dartmouth history. His exceptional recruiting efforts spanned the 2023 season, where the class received votes in the national rankings.
Before Dartmouth College, he spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Georgia men's tennis program. The Bulldogs held a top 10 national ranking, ended up with a record of 17-7 (8-4 SEC), and clinched a trip to NCAA Elite 8. His duties consisted of assisting with player development and coaching primarily the No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles positions. Grossbaum was influential in developing All-American Trent Bryde.
Before his time at Georgia, Grossbaum was the head coach at Southern Utah (2019-20). The Thunderbirds won three of their first five matches of the dual season before the remainder of their season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grossbaum has also made coaching stops at the USTA National Campus and Boise State University. At BSU, he was a part of a program that reached a top 15 national ranking in 2013-14.
Before making the transition to collegiate coaching, Grossbaum competed at Ferris State in Big Rapids, Michigan. He led the Bulldogs to three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, an NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearance in 2016, and an NCAA Division II Final Four appearance in 2017.
Grossbaum graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in professional tennis management at Ferris State in 2017 and went on to receive a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies at Southern Utah in 2021.
A Ketchum, Idaho native, Grossbaum, 29, graduated from The Sage School in 2012.
