Biography
2013-14: Fichtel went 7-9 in singles in 2013-14 including 7-3 during the fall…he reached the finals of the GU/EWU Tournament…Fichtel went 3-3 in doubles including 1-1 at No. 3 during the spring...reached the doubles semifinals at the GU/EWU Tournament with partner Sam Laudon.
Spring 2013: Fichtel went 1-0 in singles play, winning in straight sets at No. 4 against Whitworth’s Blake Miller…he went 2-1 in doubles, with a 2-0 record at No. 3 and an 0-1 mark at No. 2.
Fall 2012: Fichtel went 3-7 in singles play and 5-5 in doubles…he reached the quarterfinals at the Eastern Washington Fall Classic in singles play…he also advanced to the round of 16 at the Boise State Fall Tournament with wins in his first two singles matches…in doubles play he reached the quarterfinals with teammate Jake Knox at the Pacific Northwest Intercollegiate.
Spring 2012: Fichtel went 0-1 in singles in spring 2012, playing at the No. 6 position...he went 5-2 in doubles, including 2-1 in WAC play, at No. 3.
Fall 2011: Fichtel went 4-7 in singles play and 0-3 in doubles in the fall…he won back-to-back singles matches at the Pacific Northwest Intercollegiate…also won a consolation singles match at the ITA Mountain Regional.
2010-11: Fichtel did not play during the 2010-11 season.
Personal: Filip Fichtel is the son of Karl Fichtel and Barbara Koller Fictel...he was born Dec. 9, 1988 in Munich, Germany...he comes to Idaho from Landshut, Bavaria.
