2016-17: Jernigan was a 2 time WAC Championships finalist. Where she placed 5^th in the 200 breast and 8^th in the 200 IM. Here she swam the breastroke leg in the 200 medley relay and placed 6th.  She also placed 2^nd in the 100 breast and 1^st in the 200 breast in the dual meet against GCU. She swam the breastroke leg of the 200 medley relay at the WAC Championships.


2015-16: Jernigan made the NCAA B Cut in the 200 Breast and posted a new school record in that event. Member of the 400 Medley Relay team that placed 3rd at the WAC Championships and the 200 Medley Relay that placed 5th. Individually placed 3rd in the 200 Breast at WAC Championships, and 5th in the 100 Breast. Posted the top 100 and 200 breast of the season and the third fastest 200 IM of the season.


2014-15: Jernigan swam the breastroke leg of the 200 medley relay which placed 4th at the WAC Championships. Here she was also a member of the 800 free relay which placed 5th. Member of six of the top 10 fastest 200 medley relay teams and three of the top four fastest 400 medley relay teams of the season … swam eight of the top 20 fastest 100 breast times, 10 of the top 20 200 breast times and eight of the top 20 200 IM times of the season … placed fourth in the 200 medley relay, fifth in the 800 free relay, 11th in the 200 IM, 15th in the 100 breast and seventh in the 200 breast at the WAC meet.

 

High School: Cara Jernigan, a swimmer out of Kealakehe High School in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i, comes to the Vandals after a great senior year. She holds the Hawai`i High School record in the 100 breaststroke with a time that would have placed in the top three in the Western Athletic Conference last season. She recently has been selected to represent Hawaiian swimming in New Zealand at the Oceania Swimming Championships.
