Rick DeMulling, a senior offensive guard from Cheney, Wash.; Chris Nofoaiga, a senior linebacker from Tacoma, Wash.; Rick Giampietri, a senior linebacker from Spokane, Wash., and John Welsh, a junior quarterback from Oak Forest, Ill., are the team's captains.

"It's the biggest honor you can receive," coach Tom Cable said in announcing the selections. "To me, when your peers choose you it's really special.

"I knew we had some really good leadership on this team. I figured whoever it was would be real solid."

The Vandals are off Monday before returning to the practice field Tuesday for Saturday's opener at Washington. Kickoff at Husky Stadium is 12:30 p.m. for the game that will be broadcast on a delay basis by Fox Sports.
