MOSCOW, Idaho - Tom Cable reaffirmed his commitment to the University of Idaho football program Monday and put to rest speculation that he may become the next offensive coordinator at UCLA.
"I haven't accomplished what I set out to do here," Cable said Monday morning. "My commitment is to this team, this program and this university.
"I've received tremendous support the last few days from the administration, fans and friends."
Cable's announcement ended a week of speculation that he might accept another post at UCLA.
"We need to move forward here," Cable said. "My heart is with this university and this program. We need to finish what we set out to do here: build our facilities to match those of our peers, continue to excel in the classroom and win a championship.
"I believe we're on track to reaching all of those goals."
Cable said recent speculation did not impact recruiting.
"We've talked to all our commitments and they're with us," Cable said. "We're ready to take the next step and that's winning a championship."
Maintaining focus on the future is paramount at this time.
"It's time for me and all Vandals," Cable said, "need to put aside any distractions and keep in mind the ultimate goal - the goal of being a competitive Division I-A program."
