FULLERTON, Calif. - The University of Idaho women's soccer team once again found themselves on the losing end of a game, this time against conference foe Cal State Fullerton. The Vandals (3-12-0, 1-6-0) fell 4-0 to the Titans (9-7-1, 5-1-1) in Fullerton, Calif., Sunday.
Cal State Fullerton put the game away early as they scored three goals in the first 14 minutes. Candice Wilson garnered scores at 11:40 and 12:34 and Kellie Cox scored at 13:57 to put the Titans up 3-0 before halftime. Fullerton managed another goal in 66th minute which gave the game its final score of 4-0.
"This was probably our worst effort of the season and when it comes against the best team in the league it is not surprising to see this kind of result," Vandal head coach Arby Busey said. "Cal State Fullerton is a really athletic team that has speed, size and strength, and they deserve a lot of credit. They took us out of what we wanted to do from the beginning and we played on our heels for the entire game. We will have to regroup this week and put together a much better effort next weekend in order to be successful."
For the second straight game, the Vandals managed only three shots and were outshot 32-3 for the game. All three Vandal shots came in the second half.
Idaho will return home for its final two games of the season next weekend when they take on Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara.
