Idaho will kick off the Western Athletic Conference season this weekend with a trip to Utah State, followed by a home match against Louisiana Tech. The game against Utah State will be the 200th in Idaho soccer history.
The Aggies enter Friday's contest with a 5-7-1 overall record after falling last weekend against BYU by a 2-0 score. The Aggies have lost three of their last four with the lone victory coming over Wyoming on Sep. 28 and three losses coming against BYU, Long Beach State and Cal Poly.
USU has been outscored 13-16 on the season, but the Aggies present a balanced attack. Six different Utah State players have scored a goal and eight have scored an assist. Sophomore forward Lauren Hansen is the team's leading scorer with four goals and one assist, with 29 shots on the year. Senior goalkeeper Ali Griffin has a .766 save percentage and a 1.31 goals-allowed-average in 12 starts this season.
Utah State holds a 9-1 all-time record against Idaho, with the Vandals' lone win coming in 2001 at Utah State by a 3-2 score. Last time the two teams met, the Aggies pulled out a 4-0 victory in Moscow.
The Lady Techsters are off to the best start in program history, as the team currently sits at 10-2-1. Tech is currently riding an eight-game unbeaten streak into Friday's matchup against Boise State before making a stop in Moscow to face the Vandals. The Lady Techsters have won three straight over Houston Baptist, Prairie View A&M and Mississippi Valley State dating back to Sep. 28.
Freshman midfielder Kristen Sevier is the team's leading scorer with seven goals and three assists for 17 total points on the season. The Techsters have used three different goalkeepers on the season - Tara Gavlak, Cat Buchanan and Jean Bernard - and have held opponents to just seven goals and have combined for a 0.57 goals-allowed-average.
Last time the two teams met in Moscow, they tied 1-1.
