LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Idaho's Treasa Ring won the 100 butterfly at Saturday's dual meet with New Mexico State University but the Vandals couldn't keep pace and lost the overall battle 148-88.
Ring was clocked in 57.42 seconds to win comfortably.
"That's a very solid swim up here," said coach Tom Jager, whose team is on the road again next Saturday at Northern Arizona.
Jager also commended the efforts of Kelsie Saxe, who finished second in the 200 IM, and Alyson O'Brien, who was second in the 200 free. Saxe was timed in two minutes, 12.16 seconds, while O'Brien was timed in 1:54.90.
"We swam pretty good," Jager said, "considering where we're going."
Idaho began a run of three road meets. The Vandals aren't at home again until Jan. 30 when they play host to Oregon State.
