ARLINGTON, Texas – Idaho senior Ryan Bowen finished sixth and freshman teammate Drew Thompson finished 10th in the decathlon at the Western Athletic Conference track and field championships on Thursday.
Bowen finished with 5,478 points in the event and finished third in the pole vault on Thursday, clearing 14-04.75 (4.39m). His heave of 142-04 (43.39m) in the javelin throw was good for sixth.
Thompson finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.13 and finished with 5,049 points in the decathlon.
The Vandal men are in fourth place after the decathlon with three points. Host UT Arlington leads with 18 points.
On the women's side Idaho's Johanna Hocketstaller did not finish the heptathlon.
The meet continues Friday with field events beginning at 9 a.m. (PT) and track events starting at 2 p.m. (PT).
