Biography

2011 Indoor: Bowen redshirted the 2011 indoor season.

2010 Outdoor: Bowen finished fifth in the decathlon with a score of 6,243 and earned second-team all-WAC honors at the WAC Outdoor Championships. He also ran a leg of Idaho's fifth-place 4x400m relay team and took eighth in the long jump at 22-3. He set personal bests during the season in the 1500m (4:46.11), shot put (35-0.25), discus (93-9) and javelin (153-10). 

2010 Indoor: Bowen earned second-team all-WAC honors at the WAC Indoor Championships with a fifth-place finish in the heptathlon after scoring a career-high 4,941 points. He also took eighth in the long jump at 21-7.5 (6.59m). He also set personal bests during the season in the 60m hurdles (8.85), pole vault (14-1.25) and shot put (33-10.25).

High School: Bowen had a great deal of success at Lewiston High School. He was a two-time Idaho 5A state champion in the long jump and a seven-time all-state honoree. As a sophomore in 2006, he helped the Lewiston 4x400m relay team take second at state. In 2007, he won the long jump with a leap of 22-8, took third in the high jump at 6-2 and took seventh in the 300m hurdles with a time of 40.87, as the Lewiston boys took third. He was honored in 2007 as the All-North Idaho High School Athlete of the Year. As a senior, he scored 21 points with a state title in the long jump (23-8.75), a second-place tie in the high jump (6-4) and a fifth-place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.44) and helped Lewiston take fifth as a team. Bowen also won USATF Region 13 titles in the long jump in 2005 and 2006 and took third in Region 13 in the decathlon in 2007. He holds the Lewiston school record in the pole vault with a best of 14-1.

Personal: He is the son of Michael and Joan Bowen. He has one brother, Erik. His major at Idaho is Mechanical Engineering.
