Vandals head to Weber State

OGEDN, Utah – It's time for one last regular season road trip as Idaho (8-4-2, 5-1-0) heads out to Weber State (5-7-1, 3-3-0) for a 6 p.m. Pacific kickoff on Friday night.

PREVIEW – The Vandals got their second consecutive weekend sweep last week, defeating Sacramento State and Portland State on the road.  Idaho exploded for five goals at Sacramento State, tying the program record for goals in a game against a Division I opponent.  Sacramento State entered the game having given up just 11 goals in its first 10 matches.

The Vandals got another come-from-behind win on Sunday at Portland State, defeating the Vikings 2-1.  Again, the opponents got up early directly on a free kick, but Idaho responded.  The Vandals came out with a fire in the second half, earning a penalty kick just minutes in to level the score.  Idaho would take the lead moments later, with Kelly Dopke netting her first of the season.

Weber State enters the matchup having dropped two straight 3-0 decisions, against Montana and Eastern Washington.

MATCHUP – Idaho defeated Weber State last season, 1-0, on the road.  Kayla Watanabe got the lone goal, finishing off of a free kick midway through the second half.  Idaho is 5-3-0 all-time against Weber State.

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS – Idaho's five goals against North Dakota are the most in a game since 2000.  It was just the fourth time that Idaho scored at least five goals in a game, and just the third time against a Division I opponent.  The Vandals have never scored more than five goals against a Division I opponent.

Idaho followed that up with another five-goal game at Sacramento State on Friday.  Freshman Emma Eddy netted three in the victory, marking the first Vandal hat trick since 2000.

CONERENCE RANKINGS – Emma Eddy currently leads the Big Sky Conference in goals (6) and points (12) in league play.  Clara Gomez is atop the league standings with four assists in conference play, while Elexis Schlossarek, Kavita Battan and Josilyn Daggs are tied for second with three apiece.
