MOSCOW, ldaho – Coach
Paul Petrino added three Vandals to the University of Idaho football Wednesday as the week-long mid-year signing period started.
Joining the Vandals are an offensive lineman, a defensive lineman and a cornerback – all of whom Petrino expects to see on the field immediately.
"All three guys have a chance to come in and compete to start," said Petrino, who takes Idaho to its first bowl game since 2009 when the Vandals take on Colorado State next Thursday in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. "All three of them can have an immediate impact for us."
Offensive lineman Sean Tulette (6-3, 283) comes to Idaho from Long Beach City College. He is a graduate of Los Alamitos High School where he was teammates with current Vandals
Denzal Brantley and Joe Wysocki. He was a highly regarded high schooler at Los Alamitos where he was on the Long Beach Press-Telegraph Dream Team as a senior.
On the defensive side of the ball, Petrino and his staff went back to East Mississippi College (where they found 2016 Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year
Aikeem Coleman) to land another lineman – D.J. Henderson. Henderson (6-1, 280) was a key component of a defense that enabled East Mississippi to finish the season 11-1 and ranked second nationally. He had 25 solo stops, 11 assists and six sacks (-34 yards). He is a graduate of Clinton (Miss.) High School.
At cornerback, Idaho signed Brandon Brooks from Riverside City College. He was applauded by Petrino as a standout press corner. He played a key role on Riverside's California Bowl Championship team, which finished the season with a 10-2 record. He had three pass breakups and an interception.
