Hausmann wins German Amateur

University of Idaho sophomore-to-be Sophie Hausmann won the German International Ladies Amateur Golf Championship over the weekend with a one-stroke victory over Czechoslovakia's Marie Lunackova and by two over fellow German's Maike Schlender and Ester Henseleit.

Hausmann, the reigning Big Sky Conference champion and a first-team all-conference choice, led from start to finish but had to fend off the challenges of Lunackova, Schlender and Henseleit during the final day.

She finished the tournament at two-under 286 after rounds of 70-71-72-73 – with the final two rounds both played on Saturday. The field of 110 included players from Germany, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Finland, France, Italy, Russia, Belgium and Iceland.
