EUGENE, Ore. – The Vandals ran into a solid Ducks squad on Friday afternoon, with Idaho (2-4-1) falling to Oregon (4-1-0), 1-0.

"We really challenged our players this week to play like Vandals, play like family, and I thought we did an excellent job of that tonight," said head coach Derek Pittman.  "Matched up against a very athletics and talented Oregon team that is playing quality soccer right now.  Just really proud of our players and how we defended in the first half and ultimately outshooting them in the second.  Overall I thought our players stood tall and represented themselves well today."

Oregon broke the draw in the 59th minute after a series of passes led to a cross from Chardonnay Curran that found Marissa Everett open in front.

Makayla Presgrave was solid in goal, making six saves, including five in the first half.

"That's what we expect from Mak, each and every day," said Pittman.  "She needs to be able to come up with four or five big saves for us.  Not only the saves, but I thought she did an excellent job with all of the crosses that got whipped into the box.  I thought she did exactly what we expect from her.  Really proud of her effort, and because of that she kept us in the game the entire time."

The second unit up front of Summer Kaneshiro and Brooke Sosa provided some added energy for the Vandals.  Kaneshiro was one of three Vandals to attempt two shots on the night, with Bridget Daley and Olivia Baggerly doing the same.

"We looked at the players that played the bulk of the minutes in the first half and we wanted to make sure we had fresh legs," Pittman said.  "I thought Brooke Sosa and Summer Kaneshiro gave us a great opportunity to bring us some energy right from the start.  Also Morgan Crosby played excellent in the first half and we wanted to give her a chance to run again to start the second half.  We started on the front foot, really created some quality chances early on."
