Box Score PULLMAN, Wash.—The Vandal women's tennis team opened the spring season on Saturday. The team fell to neighboring Washington State, 7-0.
The Cougars picked up the day's first point in doubles. WSU was able to take the first match, 6-1 on court No. 2. Michaela Bayerlova and Aneta Miksovska clinched the point for WSU, defeating
Laura Spataro and
Maggie Chen, 6-2, in No. 3 play.
Idaho did not fare better in singles. The top two courts gave way to WSU, giving the Cougars the 3-0 lead. Spataro and
Lucia Badillos were each able to pick up a set-win for Idaho. Spataro won her first set, 7-6, over Miksovska. Miksovska fought back to tie the match and then blanked Spataro in the third to clinch the match, 4-0. Badillos forced a third set in No. 3 play, falling to Tiffany Mylonas 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
The Vandals are now off until Feb. 10 when they travel to Gonzaga.
