COSIDA RELEASE
MOSCOW, Idaho – Senior defender,
Kelly Dopke's Vandal career may be over, but she keeps bringing in the hardware, earning Google Cloud Academic All-America First Team honors, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Dopke is just the third female Vandal ever to earn the distinction, following in the footsteps of Mikayla Ferenz from women's basketball last season, and Hannah Kiser from track and field in 2014. She is also just the second Vandal soccer player ever to be recognized, after Chelsea Small earned Second Team honors in 2010 and 2012. At the conference level, Dopke is just the fifth Big Sky soccer player to earn First Team honors, and is the first since Kristi Andreassen of Northern Arizona in 2010.
Dopke boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA in Medical Sciences and intends to pursue medical school after graduation. She was named a Google Cloud All-District First Team selection last month.
Recently, Dopke was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team, becoming just the fourth Vandal ever recognized by the coaches' association.
The Vandals enjoyed a great season in 2018, finishing 9-7-3 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play to earn the No. 2 seed in the Big Sky Tournament. Dopke was also recognized for her efforts on the field, earning Defensive Most Valuable Player and All-Big Sky First honors. She was also recognized as a member of the All-Tournament Team.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
