Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho—Idaho men's tennis claimed it's third straight victory on Sunday, defeating Weber State 6-1. The win puts Idaho atop the Big Sky with a 3-0 conference record.

The Vandals took the doubles point to start the morning on a high note. It took a come-from-behind effort after Weber State took the first match at No. 2, 6-4. Idaho's No. 3 pairing of Felipe Fonseca and Lucas Coutinho the Vandals back to even with a 6-4 win. The Vandals ranked duo of Mark Kovacs and Carlos Longhi Neto stepped up at No. 1 and clinched the point for Idaho. The No. 32 ranked pair went 6-4 over Weber State's Hou-En Chen and Cezary Walkusz.

"As a whole we need to play better in doubles," head coach Abid Akbar said. "We need to be the aggressors and play attacking instead of waiting for our opponents to make a mistake."

The Vandals battled in singles, pulling out ahead in five of the six matches. Four of Idaho's five wins took extended play to settle the point. Fonseca was the lone Vandal to win in straight sets. He took care of business on the No. 4 court, 6-3, 6-2, to put Idaho ahead 2-0.

The clincher came from Longhi Neto at the No. 2 position. The Idaho junior took the first set 6-2, but Weber State's Kris Van Wyk evened the set with a 6-3 win in the second. Longhi Neto was able to cruise in the third set, 6-1, sealing the win for the Vandals.

"There is still a lot fo room for improvement," Akbar added. "Today was a strong performance against a good Big Sky team. Singles is getting better, but we can still grow."

Guilherme Scarpelli and Peter Shin picked up Idaho's final two points.

The Vandals will be back in action next Saturday, Mar. 3, at Montana State. They will finish the week at Montana on Sunday.
