Box Score Eugene, Ore.—Idaho women's tennis dropped fell to No. 17 Oregon, 6-1, on Sunday.
Marianna Petrei was the bright spot on the day, bringing home Idaho's lone point.
Petrei, ranked No. 38 in the country outlasted the Ducks No. 1 player Alyssa Toaita to avoid clean sweep by Oregon. Petrei got out to a quick 6-3 start. Tobita, the No. 125 ranked player in the nation, got even in the second with a 3-6 set win. Petrei battled in the third to gain a 6-4 win in the third to avoid the Oregon sweep.
The Ducks got out to a quick start, sweeping the doubles point. Oregon opened with a 6-1 win at No. 2. The clinched the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3. The Vandals fell 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Oregon won the first three singles matches to clinch the match. Paiton Wagner recorded the first singles win for the Ducks, going 6-2, 6-0 over
Marta Magalhães. The Vandals dropped points at No. 3 and No. 2 to go down 4-0.
Idaho is off until Mar. 12, when they open a three-match swing in California. The Vandal will open the trip at the University of San Francisco. Idaho will also be at Sacramento State and UC Davis.
