Box Score PORTLAND—Idaho men's tennis early season struggles continued at the University of Portland on Friday. The Vandals picked up its first singles-win of the season but dropped the match 6-1.

Portland (3-3) got the day going with the doubles point. The Pilots got the win on the No. 2 court to start the morning. Idaho's Mark Kovacs and Carlos Longhi Neto evened up the doubles session on the No. 1 court. The Vandal duo, ranked No. 36 in the latest ITA rankings, went 6-4 over Mathieu and Pierre Garcia. UP closed out the point with a 6-3 win at the No. 3 position.

The Vandals fell behind 3-0 after the first two singles matches went to Portland. The Pilots clinched the match with Pierre Garcia's 6-2, 6-4 win over Guilherme Scarpelli.

Idaho (0-3) got on the board with a win at No. 6. Lucas Coutinho took the first set 6-4 over Portlands Drew Davidson. Davidson forced a tie-break with a 6-4 in the second. Fonseca took the super tiebreaker 10-7 to pick up Idaho's first point of the season.

The Vandals are off until next Friday (Feb. 16). The team will open Big Sky play at North Dakota.
