MOSCOW, Idaho—Idaho volleyball head coach
Debbie Buchanan announced the addition of defensive specialist Shannon Casale for the 2018 season on Wednesday. Casale will transfer to Idaho in the fall, having spent last season playing at the University of Montana.
"We are excited to add an experienced transfer to our roster for the fall," Buchanan explained. "We know Shannon is a great competitor, having competed against her this past season. She will be a help to our ball control this fall."
Casale, a Hamilton, Mont., native, will be a sophomore this fall. She joined the Lady Griz in 2016, redshirting her first season. She started the first 18 matches at libero for Montana last season, playing in 27 of the team's 29 matches. Casale averaged 3.14 digs and 0.19 aces in 93 sets last season.
Casale totaled double-figure digs in 14 matches last season. She set a season-high with 26 digs against SIU-Edwardsville. Casale closed last season with a team-high 292 digs. She was also second on Montana in assists (53) and third in serve percentage (.963/min 50 att.).
The Vandals will be back in action this weekend. They will head over to Washington State for two matches, starting at 10 a.m.
