MOSCOW, Idaho – The winning streak continues for Idaho women's tennis, after topping Southern Utah, 5-2, at home on Saturday. The win moves the Vandals to 10-1 to finish second in the Big Sky Regular Season Standings.
Yet again, the Vandals took the double point.
Lucia Badillos and
Laura Spataro were tremendous, winning at No. 2, 6-0.
Shion Watabe and Marta Magalhães wrapped up the point with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
Maria Tavares got the first singles point for Idaho, at No. 2. Taveres won the first set, 6-3, before her opponent was forced to retire.
Marianna Petrei didn't need long to win her match at No. 1 singles, topping Ghita Nassik, 6-1, 6-0.
Marta Magalhães wrapped up the match for the Vandals at No. 6, earning the come-from-behind, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win.
Laura Spataro also won at No. 4 to give Idaho the 5-2 win.
Next up is the Big Sky Championships in Phoenix, Ariz., April 26-28.
