MOSCOW, Idaho— Idaho men's tennis head coach
Daniel Hangstefer welcomed three Vandals to the program Friday. The recruiting class includes walk-ons Brandon Hodge and Adam Taylor, a three-star and two-star recruit, respectively.
Hangstefer and the team have also welcomed Bruno Casino-Remondo, who signed with the Vandals in 2018, and has joined the roster and enrolled for classes this spring. He will be eligible to compete this spring season.
"I am excited about this set of additions to the team," Hangstefer exclaimed! "I believe these are good people who share many of the same core values and goals of this program: Academics, athletics, and community. I am looking forward to working with each player as a person and athlete."
Casino-Remondo joins Idaho from Cantabria, Spain. He has seen action on the ITF Junior Pro Circuit in Spain and Belgium. According to itftennis.com, Casino-Remondo has ranked in the ITF Junior Circuit as well as the National Spanish list. He also enjoys soccer, sailing and cycling in his spare time.
"Bruno is a great addition to our team for this spring," Hangstefer commented. "He has a solid all-around game and all around person. I am looking forward to seeing him compete this spring!"
Taylor, an Ennis, Texas native, is a two-star recruit according to the tennisrecruiting.net, and currently ranked No. 53 in the state of Texas and No. 72 in the Gulf States with an overall record of 14-14. The Ennis High school varsity player is a two-time district champion and placed second in regionals his 10th-grade year.
"Adam is a tough worker," Hangstefer said. "He has a great background and training regimen. I think he will continue to improve as a player and will end up being an important asset to our team."
The Vandals welcome in Greenville S.C. native, Brandon Hodge. According to tennisrecruiting.net, Hodge is a three-star athlete that went 11-2 at No. 2 singles and 6-1 at No.1 doubles in 2017-18 season.
"I love watching Brandon compete," Hangstefer stated. "He has a huge passion for the game. I cannot wait for him to arrive on campus to start training with us."
Idaho men's tennis will open spring dual season play at the University of Oregon on Jan. 20th.
