MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho student-athletes achieved a department grade-point average of 3.09 during the fall 2018 semester, the 10th consecutive semester with a 3.0 department GPA or better. Twelve of Idaho's 16 teams posted at least a 3.0 GPA with a pair of Vandal programs setting all-time records.
"The University of Idaho is full of talented and driven students and we are incredibly proud that many of them also represent Vandal Athletics," said Interim Director of Athletics
Pete Isakson. "Our student-athletes keep pushing the limits of what they can achieve in the classroom and in competition."

The Vandal women's tennis team, which will be vying for a sixth consecutive conference title in the spring, posted a 3.81 team GPA for the fall. It is the second-highest semester GPA in program history and third-highest semester GPA by any team in department history (GPA records date back to 2000).

Women's swimming and diving posted a 3.66 GPA, the best single-semester mark since the program was reinstated in 2004. That was accomplished thanks to 27 student-athletes with a 3.0 or higher, including nine with a perfect 4.0.

Women's soccer secured its highest semester team GPA on record with a 3.65. The team featured 28 student-athletes with at least a 3.0 and 11 with a 4.0.

Women's cross country (3.73), women's track and field (3.67) and women's basketball (3.5) also posted at least a 3.5 team GPA. The women's basketball team boasted 10 student-athletes at or above a 3.0 for the semester, including five 4.0 students.

Football featured a department-best 35 student-athletes who finished the semester at or above a 3.0. Women's track and field led the way with 12 student-athletes posting a perfect 4.0 GPA, among 32 who held at least a 3.0 GPA. In all, 190 Vandal student-athletes scored at least a 3.0 GPA and 51 brought home a 4.0.

Last month, 11 Vandal student-athletes earned a degree at fall commencement. The spring 2019 semester begins Wednesday, Jan. 9. Last spring, Idaho student-athletes set an all-time department record with a 3.24 GPA.
