BIG SKY RELEASE
FARMINGTON, Utah – Senior defensive back,
Lloyd Hightower, has been recognized by the conference as the ROOT SPORTS Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.
Â
Hightower was everywhere for the Vandals on Saturday. He scored twice on the day, including a pick-6 midway through the first quarter to give Idaho the 14-0 advantage. He wasn't tested much from there, and finished the day with two tackles.
Â
He added another score late in the third. After a strip-sack by
Leonick Tamba saw the ball bouncing around on the turf, Hightower was able to scoop it up and go the distance, 49 yards, for his second touchdown of the day. The fumble recovery touchdown was the first by a Vandal since Russell Siavii in 2015.
Â
The Vandal defense was tremendous on Saturday. As a unit, it scored three touchdowns and set up the offense with a short field on a number of other occasions.
Â
Idaho got the 45-21 win over Idaho State in the ICCU Battle of the Domes on Saturday. The Vandals will rest up during the much needed bye week before hosting
Cal Poly on Saturday, Nov. 2.
