BOZEMAN, Mont. – Idaho volleyball (6-9, 2-1 BSC) suffered its first conference loss, at Montana State (6-6, 2-1 BSC), 3-1, on Thursday night.
Kennedy Warren finished with 18 kills while hitting .286.
Donnée Janzen had 35 assists and
Delaney Hopen led Idaho with 14 digs.
Idaho jumped out to an early lead in the first set and led by four, 10-6, on a kill from
Paige Rupiper. The Bobcats recovered to take a brief lead at 15-14, before a back-and-forth rally leveled the score at 21. MSU scored the next three to get set point and, after kills from
Avery Housley and
Kyra Palmbush, won 25-23.
The second set was all Vandals. Idaho led 5-1 early and maintained a solid edge for most of the set, minus a brief surge from MSU that cut the lead to just 22-20. Idaho would win the set, 25-21.
Neither team gained much ground early in the third set, until three straight from MSU made it 14-10, Bobcats. They would build their lead from there and eventually take the set 25-17.
After a back-and-forth start, Montana State went on a 6-1 run to go up, 11-6. Idaho slowly chipped away from there to eventually tie up the set at 19. MSU then scored five-of-six to get match point. The Vandals went on a 3-0 run, but the Bobcats closed it out at 25-23.
Idaho next takes on Montana tomorrow night. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Missoula, 5 p.m. Pacific.
