MISSOULA, Mont. – Idaho volleyball (7-9, 3-1 BSC) got back in the win column on Friday night, taking down Montana (2-13, 1-3) in four sets.
Kennedy Warren hit .344 on the night and finished with 14 kills.
Emily Smith added 12 kills of her own, a new career-high.
Paige Rupiper had 10 kills and recorded nine digs.
The first set swung back-and-forth with both teams going on short runs. Montana got up, 19-16, before Idaho took over with a 9-2 run to win the set 25-21.
Set two was much of the same early on, with the Griz getting up 18-14. Once again, Idaho flipped the switch and went on a run, this time to take over at 20-19. Montana hung on, but Idaho was too much late and took the set, 25-23.
The Griz won the third, 25-21, behind a five-point swing midway through the set.
Montana kept up the strong play into the fourth to take a 7-4 lead, but it was all Vandals from there. Idaho closed on an 11-3 run to win, 25-16, and take the match.
Idaho is back in action on Tuesday at Eastern Washington.
