MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho football takes back to the road to face Portland State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Hillsboro Stadium.  Idaho is 12-1-0 all-time against Portland State, including a 20-7 win in Moscow last season.

ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals (2-4, 0-2 BSC) fell to No. 4/No. 5 Weber State on Saturday afternoon in the Kibbie Dome, 41-35. The Idaho offense took it to the top-ranked defense in the Big Sky, putting up 405 yards of total offense, including 193 yards on the ground.

ABOUT PORTLAND STATE: The Vikings (3-3, 1-1 BSC) defeated Southern Utah, 52-31, on Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium.  The Vikings were tremendous on the ground, outgaining the Thunderbirds 239-92.
The Vikings have been successful in 2019 by stopping the run.  PSU is second in the Big Sky in rushing defense and only allows 100 yards per game on the ground.  The Vikings lead the Big Sky in total defense, allowing just 342 yards per game.

ROMANO TO THE HOUSE: Freshman Nick Romano returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the fourth quarter last weekend to keep the Vandals in things late.  The return TD was the first by a Vandal since Todd Handley went 92 yards against Louisiana Tech on Oct. 20, 2012.  Romano is the only Big Sky student-athlete to return a kickoff for a touchdown in 2019, and he currently leads the conference in kickoff return average at 31.9 yards per return.

SEVEN AND SEVEN: Idaho's two number sevens had tremendous games against Weber State.  Offensively, Cutrell Haywood set career-bests with 10 catches and 92 yards, while adding a touchdown.  Defensively, Charles Akanno set a new career-high with four tackles-for-loss and wreaked havoc in the backfield all day.

OFFENSE COMING ALONG: Idaho put up 35 points on Weber State on Saturday.  The 35 points were the most given up by the Wildcats this season.  In fact, Weber State gave up a total of 25 points in its two FBS games in 2019.

Idaho's 35 points are also the most by the Vandals in a conference game since closing out the regular season with a 37-12 win over Georgia State.
