MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho volleyball team clinched a spot in the Big Sky Conference Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Eastern Washington on Tuesday evening. The Eagles (6-21, 4-11 BSC) won the first set before the Vandals (13-14, 9-6 BSC) came back to win three straight to take the match.

The first set was a back-and-forth affair. Neither team was able to grab control, but eventually EWU earned the two-point victory, 25-23.

The Vandals came out in set two on a 3-0 run and never looked back. The home side would go on to win, 25-16. The third set was more of the same, as Idaho would win, 25-12. After the score was tied, 1-1, early on, the Vandals would use a 6-0 run to take complete control of the set.

In set four, the Vandals jumped out to an early lead, but the Eagles would not go easily. EWU got within two points, 12-10, but Idaho did not relent, pushing the cushion out again and eventually taking the set, 25-19, and winning the tournament berth clinching match.

The Vandals will next be in action on Friday against Northern Colorado. The match, beginning at 6 p.m., will be Senior Day for Idaho. The Vandals have three more matches in the regular season to fight for seeding in the conference tournament.
