This will be Hausmann's third appearance at an NCAA Regional, including trips in 2016 and 2018 when the Vandals advanced as a team. She is the fourth three-time regionals participant in program history.
Â
Hausmann is the top-ranked individual qualifier at the Cle Elum Regional, joining five more individuals and 18 teams in the field. It is one of four regional sites in action May 6-8, across the country.
Â
The top tix teams, as well as the top three individuals not on an advancing team, from each region will qualify for the NCAA National Championships May 17-22, in Fayetteville, Ark.
Â
Hausmann is a two-time Big Sky Player of the Year, winning the award each of the last two seasons. She currently sports a 72.2 scoring average as a senior, the second-best mark in program history. She has finished in the top 25 of all 11 events this season, including eight top 10s and five top-five results. The Nottuln, Germany, native competed at the 2018 U.S. Women's Open and earlier this month was part of the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur.
Â
Checking in at No. 56 in the latest GolfStat National Player Rankings, Hausmann ranks 17th among the 37 top-150 competitors in the Cle Elum Regional. She is the top-ranked individual qualifier at any of the regional sites.
Â
Idaho women's golf will be represented at the NCAA Regional Championships for the 14th time in the last 19 years. The Vandals have earned six invitations as a team (2001, 2002, 2007, 2010, 2016, 2018) and Hausmann becomes the sixth different Vandal woman to claim an individual berth. She joins Nicole Keller (2003), Renee Skidmore (2005, 2006), Kayla Mortellaro (2009, 2011, 2012), Teo Poplawski (2011) and Leilani Kim (2015).
Â
Hausmann is the first Vandal to advance to regionals as an individual since 2015, when Kim qualified for nationals. Kim became the second Idaho women's golfer to advance to the final stage of the NCAA Championships, joining Kelly Nakashima who did so in 2007. Mortellaro missed the cut by one stroke in 2012. Hausmann was two strokes away from forcing a playoff for the final spot to advance out of last year's Madison Regional.
Â
Hausmann tied for 11th last season in Madison. She shot 1-under, becoming the first Vandal in program history to finish an NCAA Regional under par.
Â
Mortellaro is the only four-time regional qualifier in program history, making it three times as an individual and helping Idaho earn a team at-large bid in 2010.
Â
Hausmann will be joined in Cle Elum by fellow Big Sky Conference champions Sacramento State, as well as Southern Utah student-athlete Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan, who qualified as an individual. It is the first time since 2015 – and second time in league history – that two Big Sky women earned individual bids. In 2015, Idaho's Leilani Kim was joined by Portland State's A Ram Choi.
