INDIANAPOLIS – Two University of Idaho teams earned Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA Wednesday, for their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. Idaho's women's cross country and women's golf programs each garnered Public Recognition Awards. Teams must rank in the top 10 percent of their sport, nationally, to receive the honor.
Â
"My hat's off to our women's cross country and golf programs," said Interim Director of Athletics
Pete Isakson. "These teams continue to set the standard for Vandal Athletics. They perform at a high level in competition, in classroom and in life. These awards are the result of a lot of hard work by a lot of people, but most importantly are a testament to the young women who are members of these teams."
Â
Women's golf has now earned the distinction each of the last five years and six times overall in the award's 14-year history. It is cross country's second award, after also receiving the honor last year.
Â
Last year, the same two teams became the first duo of Vandal programs to earn NCAA Public Recognition Awards in the same year.
Â
The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation each semester or academic term and provides a measure of each team's academic performance. The most recent multi-year APR scores are based on scores from the 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 academic years.
The full 2017-18 APR report will be released by the NCAA next Wednesday (May 8).
