Sophie Hausmann advanced to the second stage of LPGA Qualifying School, after finishing the 72-hole first stage at 3-over to tie for 57th. Stage II of LPGA Qualifying School is set for Oct. 14-17, at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla. Hausmann is one of 30 amateurs among the 96 women who advanced out of Stage I, held at Mission Hills Country Club and Shadow Ridge Golf Club.

Hausmann opened Stage I Thursday, with an even-par 72. She improved Friday, carding birdies on 13 and 16 to finish the day at 1-under. The Nottuln, Germany, native played each of the two weekend rounds at 2-over 74 to finish the tournament at 3-over 291, three strokes ahead of the final cut line.

The first cut of the week was made after 54 holes. Additionally, any player who shot an 88 or higher in any round was ineligible to advance. By virtue of successfully making it through the first stage, Hausmann earned Symetra Tour status for the 2020 season. The Symetra Tour serves as the LPGA's official developmental tour.

The second qualifying stage will consist of another 72 holes of stroke play. The 96 women who qualified Sunday, will be joined by players who earned exemptions throughout the last year, including any LPGA member ranked outside of the top 150. A yet-to-be-determined number of competitors will advance to the LPGA Q-Series, the final stage of qualifying.

The Q-Series stage includes 144 holes of stroke play over a two-week period at the end of October, with a cut made after the sixth of eight rounds. A minimum of the top 45 finishers and ties at the Q-Series will receive LPGA membership for the 2020 season. The exact number LPGA membership cards available will be determined by the tour prior to the final stage.

Hausmann finished her collegiate career as a two-time Big Sky Conference Player of the Year and two-time Big Sky Championships medalist, leading the Vandals to a pair of team titles.
