FARMINGTON, UTAH – The University of Idaho Women's Tennis team has been picked to finish third in the Big Sky Conference Preseason Coaches poll announced Wednesday, Jan. 8
th.
The five-time conference champions garnered 79 points in the poll just behind Weber State with 86 and the preseason favorite, Northern Arizona with 100 and 10 first place votes.
Last season the Vandals finished 13-8 on the season and 8-2 in conference play and came up just short of the Big Sky title, falling to Northern Arizona 0-4 in the title match.
This season Idaho returns four members from last year's team including juniors Marta Magalhaes and Laura Sparato who both earned Big Sky All-Conference honors a year ago.
Joining the four returners this season are freshmen
Andjela Todorovic and Marta Magalhaes along with transfers, junior
Melissa Huchet and senior
Ilana Oleynik.
Last season Magalhaes posted a 9-1 conference record while Spataro was 8-1.
The 2020 season for the Vandals will begin on January 18
th as they travel just a few miles west to face Washington State University. Idaho will debut at home on Feb.16
th against Idaho State.
