GREELEY, Colorado—The University of Idaho Women's tennis opened their Big Sky Conference road game of the season with a 6-1 win over Northern Colorado.
The Vandals took the early lead after winning two of the three doubles matches.
Laura Spataro and
Maggie Chen defeated Raffa Mora and Synclair Larson, 6-3, for their third win of the season.
Melissa Huchet and Marta Magalhaes clinched the doubles point for the Vandals with a 6-2 win over Milena Belianovich and Madison Wolfe in the No. 2 spot.
The Vandals won five of six singles matches on the way to a 6-1 victory over the Bears. Spataro, Chen, Huchet, Magalhaes, and
Shion Watabe all improved to 2-0 overall in conference play with their singles wins.
Spataro recorded her third singles win of the season with a 6-3, 6-1, win over Sandra Keta in the No. 1 singles match.
Huchet registered her third singles win of the season with a 7-6, 6-0 sweep of Raffa Mora in the No. 2 singles spot.
" We fought hard in doubles today. We played al ot stronger than our first few matches so we are really proud of our girls today," said Head Coach
Babar Akbar. " In singles there were some ups and down but the girls stayed strong and came out on top. We are looking forward to the next match."
UP NEXT
The Vandals return to action next week with a home match against Eastern Washington Saturday at 1 p.m. in Lewiston.
