Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho—The University of Idaho Women's tennis recorded their first conference loss of the season, falling to Eastern Washington, 4-3.
The Vandals took the early lead after winning two of the three doubles matches but fell short in singles play.
Laura Spataro and
Maggie Chen picked up another doubles win, defeating Zoey Nelson and Rylee Braden 6-2.
Andjela Todorovic and
Nicole Horacek defeated Stephanie Broussard and Marta Heinen 6-4 to earn their first doubles win together and clinch the double point.
Idaho led 1-0 entering singles play but dropped four-of-six matches.
Spataro earned her fourth singles win of the season by defeating Nelson in the number one spot, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.
Horacek picked up the only other singles win for the Vandals with her first career win, 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 over Broussard.
"Eastern played well. We came out strong in the doubles, but in the singles, they played really well," said Head Coach
Babar Akbar. "On every court we had tough matches, most of them could have gone either way, but they played a little more aggressive and with more confidence today. Hopefully we can learn from this and get ready for next weekend."
