FARMINGTON, Utah – Recent University of Idaho graduates Connor Vrba and
Emily Wesseling have been selected as the 2019-20 Big Sky Conference Scholar-Athlete Award recipients, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Vrba appeared in 26 games on the offensive line over three years for the Vandals, while battling through injuries. He saw action in six games in 2019, and made a major impact in his return during the final game of the season at Northern Arizona. Vrba graduated this spring with a double major in Sociology and Psychology.
Wesseling also graduated this spring, finishing her undergraduate career with a perfect 4.00 grade-point average (GPA). She competed for the cross county and track and field teams and was a consistent member of the Big Sky's All-Academic teams. Wesseling also was a double-major, in International Studies and French, with a minor in Africana Studies.
To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have a minimum GAP of 3.2, be a member of the graduating class and/or have completed his/her last year of intercollegiate athletic eligibility, have completed at least two years of intercollegiate competition and be a letterwinner.
