Box Score GREELEY, Colorado - Following a record-breaking 2021 season, the Idaho Vandals soccer team played their last match against Weber State in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon. The Vandals fell, 3-0, and their season came to a close.
The Weber State Wildcats scored their first goal quickly into the match in the seventh minute. The goal was scored by Wildcats' Lily Webster and assisted by Amy Kenney.
For the remainder of the first half, a very physical match ensued. Goalkeeper
Avrie Fox made two saves, and the Vandals took two shots.
In the second half, the Vandals took another two shots, and
Avrie Fox saved three.
Weber State's Rachel Twede scored their second goal in the 70th minute, assisted by Yira Yoggerst. Their third and final goal of the game came from a penalty kick, scored by Sadie Newson in the 87th minute.Â
The Vandals had an amazing 2021 season and broke quite a few records.
The team had their best start to a season in program history, the most wins in a season since 2016, tied third for most wins in program history, and had the third best win percentage in program history.Â
"I am extremely proud of this team. Overall, we had a great season getting double digit wins and broke a few school records. This team has accomplished a lot and should be very happy with their performance," Head Coach
Jeremy Clevenger stated.
