MOSCOW, Idaho – University of Idaho Men's Tennis Coach,
Daniel Hangstefer has announced the addition of Alejandro Salvador Civera and
Matteo Masala to the 2020-21 roster. Civera and Masala join Alexander Asenov who enrolled in the fall, to round out this year's freshman class.
Civera joins the Vandals from Valencia, Spain, where he attended IES Conselleria. The freshman is majoring in Business Economics and wants to be an entrepreneur.
He is the son of Clara Civera Vico and Antonio Salvador Civera, and has one brother, Hector Salvador Civera.
"Big guy, big serve, and big personality," said Head Coach
Daniel Hangstefer. "He is a welcome addition to our team and will add plenty of depth to our lineup."
In 2019 Civera won five ITF Juniors singles matches.
Masala joins the Vandals from Oliba, Sardenga, Italy and attended Istituto Iervolino Linguistico. The freshman is majoring in marketing.
He is the son of Stefania Puorro and Alessandro Masala and has two siblings, one brother, Davide and one sister, Martina.
"Quick and talented," said Hangstefer. "I'm expecting him to make an immediate contribution to our lineup."
Overall Hangstefer is pleased with the incoming class and can't wait to hit the court.
"We are so looking forward to competing this semester," said Hangstefer "Overall, I feel like we are in a great position as a team. We are young, eager, and talented. Our goal is to focus on getting better each day, one day at a time."
The Vandals will begin the season on Feb. 17, with a road trip to Gonzaga. Further schedule updates are to be determined at this time.
