KYLE, Texas – University of Idaho's women's golf team is tied for 7^th after the delay of the second round in the Texas State Invitational. Teams will conclude the second round first thing in the morning and play the final round immediately after.
 
As a team, the Vandals opened their 2021 campaign shooting a 14-over through the tenth hole of the second round. After shaking the rust off in the first round, the Vandals came out on fire in the second round, going 1-under as a team through 10 holes of the second round.
 
"We had some good moments and some mistakes, but we really played well in the second round," said head coach Lisa Ferrero. "We learned from our mistakes and played solid as a team."
 
Individually, graduate student Jaime Bellingham leads the vandals with a combined score of 3-over with the second round left to finish. Similar to the rest of the team, Bellingham caught fire to open her second round, making 3 birdies in her first 5 holes of the round. Bellingham sit is a tie for 25^th entering the final day of competition.
 
One stroke behind are senior Valeria Patino and junior Vicky Tsai with a combined score 4-over after the first day of play. Patino scored the est in the first round, going 1-over 73 in her opening 18 holes of the season. Tsai fired in two birdies through ten holes of the second round. Both Patino and Tsai are tied for 32^nd with 26 holes left to play tomorrow.
 
Graduate student Laura Gerner is currently tied for 43^rd place with a combined score of 6-over, just two strokes behind Patino and Tsai. After scoring even though ten holes of the second round, junior Eddie Hsu is tied for 66^th with a score of 12-over.
 
Tulsa is in first place with a combined score of 12-under. Individually, Lorena Tseng of Tulsa and Hanna Alberto of Sam Houston lead with a score of 11-under after the stoppage of play.
 
Play will resume tomorrow morning with the completion of the second round. The third and final round of play will follow immediately after the completion of the previous round.
