Jose Suryadinata finishes 3rd on the individual leaderboard after the third and final round of the Nick Watney Invitational. As a team, The Vandals finish in a tie for 6
th place with a total score of 4-under, 860.
"Ultimately, we are just happy to be back playing again," said head coach
David Nuhn. "The team stayed positive throughout the week. We shook the rust off and we are looking forward to the next one."
Suryadinata picked up right where he left off, firing in 5 birdies in his final 18 holes of play at the Nick Watney Invitational. The freshman stayed consistent throughout the tournament, card 69, 68, and 68 in each round of play. Suryadinata claims the sole possession of third place with a three-round score of 11-under, 205, only two strokes behind first place.
Graduate student
Sean Mullan finished his final round with a third-round score of 2-over, 74. Mullan fired in three birdies in his final round, putting him in a tie for 26
th while carding a 1-under, 214.
One stroke behind Mullan was junior
Colt Sherrell. After a 2-over, 74 in the second round, Sherrell rallied back and carded a 1-under, 71 in his final 18 holes of play. In a round with four birdies, Sherrell finished even on the tournament and tied for 30
th place.
Junior
Jack Plaster finished his tournament going 3-over, 75 in his final round. Plaster finished in a tie for 40
th, carding a tournament score of 8-over, 224. Junior
Joel Veenstra made a 3-stroke improvement in his final round, carding a 4-over, 76. Veenstra finished in 47
th place with a three-round score of 17-over, 233.
BYU finished in first place with a score of 31-under, 833. Individually, Carson Lundell from BYU and Gavin Cohen from Loyola Marymount tied for first place, carding a 13-under, 203.
The Vandals are back in action Monday – Tuesday on Feb. 22 -23 for the Joust at Goose Creek, hosted by Cal Baptist University.
