MEN'S RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – The University of Idaho outdoor track and field teams competed at the Whitworth Invite on Thursday and Friday. The Vandals racked up 16 wins and set three track records.
"I think we had a great meet. It was outstanding across the board in just about every event and area. We had a lot of wins, a lot of PRs, and three stadium records," said Director of Track and Field/Cross Country
Tim Cawley. "I saw the team come out and compete. You can't ask much more than that and the results usually come when you're out competing hard. I'm excited for where the team's at and for the next few weeks and we'll see if we can't keep progressing."
Camryn Crouch won the 200m by a full second, running in 24.58.
Airiana Dargan was fourth in the 100m (12.70). Meanwhile,
Olivia Martin took second in the 400 (58.57) while
Anna Pecha was sixth in the event (1:01.42). In the 400m hurdles, Prabhasha Wickramaraachchi was second in a time of 1:05.27. The Idaho 4x100 meter relay team made up of
Tayler LyDay, Crouch, Martin, and Dargan finished second (47.38).
Malaina Thacker won the 800m in 2:13.97, with Leah Homgren taking third in 2:19.38 and
Erica Pecha placing sixth (2:20.71). Thacker also won the 1500 in 4:26.28, which was a track record and is the 27th best time nationally this year, with
Nell Baker in second in 4:34.25.
Faith Dilmore and
Maya Kobylanski were fifth and sixth in the event, respectively. In the 5k,
Celie Mans took first with a time of 18:27.68.
Vandals took first, second, and fourth in the women's shot put.
Hannah Ringel won the event with a heave of 49'6.5" (15.10m) which places her 40th on the national performance list.
Erika Larsen was second (42'3.5"/12.89m) while Victorie Rae placed fourth (41'2.25"/12.55m).
Keeley Rasmussen was third in the discus (134'10"/41.10m) and Larsen was seventh (129'6"/39.48m). Rasmussen also took fourth in the hammer (167'4"/51.00m), with Ringel placing sixth (163'4"/49.79m). In the high jump,
Julia Hayes placed fourth with a mark of 5'6" (1.68m) and
Ellie Grant was fifth (5'2.25"/1.58m). In the long jump, Dargan finished third (18'5.25"/5.62m) and
Kalani Hardyway was seventh (16'4.25"/4.98m). Meanwhile, in the triple jump, Grant placed third (35'4"/10.77m), with
Arianna Bush just behind in fourth (34'9.5"/10.60m).
On the men's side,
Caleb Hagan won the 100m in a track record 10.45. That time puts him first in the Big Sky and 21st nationally.
Jurrian Hering taking third in the event in 10.73 and is tied for ninth in the conference. Hagan also won the 200, finishing in 21.34, the third best time in the Big Sky this season. In the 400m,
Spencer Barrera took first in 48.15.
Deyondre Davis won the 110m hurdles (14.43) as well as the 400m hurdles (53.07). His 400 hurdles time was a track record and puts him second in the Big Sky and 29th on the national performance list.
Alex Ayers was second in the 400 hurdles (53.18) and
Cole Alteneder was fourth (56.52).
Shea Mattson won the 800m in 1:53.82 while
Tim Stevens was third (1:56.51),
Michael McCausland was fifth (1:59.01), and
Ben Shaw was sixth (1:59.69). Idaho took six of the top eight spots in the 1500. Lorenz Hermann won the event in 3:49.86 which is the best time in the conference so far this year.
Caleb Seely (3:52.91), Mattson (3:53.16), and Stevens (3:57.83) were second, third, and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, McCausland was sixth (3:59.52) and
Dwain Stucker was seventh (3:59.62).
Gabriel Dinnel won the 5k in 15:33.32.
Zachary Nunis won the men's long jump with a leap of 23'10.75"/7.28m. He now sits 37th in the country and first in the conference. In the high jump,
Joseph Ruddell was second with a mark of 6'8"/2.03m.
Grady Leonard won the shot put with a heave of 56'10.25" (17.33m) and took first in the hammer was a mark of 193'1" (58.85m). He also finished second in the discus (160'10"/49.03m). His shot put mark is fourth best in the Big Sky and 39th best in the country. He is third on the Big Sky performance list for the hammer.
Cullen Williams was second in the hammer (183'5"/55.92m).
